DETECTIVE HARDCASTLE

Milton C. Hardcastle (portrayed by Brian Keith) was a judge at the Los Angeles Supreme Court and is now retired. But instead of enjoying his retirement in his mansion on Gulls Way in 26800 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, or play golf, he sets out to complete the task of capturing criminals who have slipped the law enforcement along the years.

Since he cannot fulfill such a task also due of his age, he demands the help of former race car driver Mark McCormick (portrayed by Daniel Hugh-Kelly). Judge Hardcastle's last case was in relation to Mark McCormick, who was on trial for auto theft. It did not come to condemnation under the condition that McCormick is placed under his care, and assist him in his self-imposed task.

As Hardcastle has enough space on his property located west of Los Angeles overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it is agreed that McCormick reside in the spacious lodge.

Apart from a black Corvette Stingray Convertible with the registration number D Judge, the garage also accommodates a pickup truck, which the tough but fair Hardcastle drives frequently. After trying to repair the pickup himself, there was an engine fire, so that the vehicle could not be repaired. He then managed to get a GMC Sierra K-15 Stepside pickup, which he now uses extensively.

Although Hardcastle and McCormick have completely opposite personalities, they work very well together. Since both their ages and mentalities are different, they are always getting into each other’s way. Surprisingly, however, they seem to depend on each other and are good friends.
