DETECTIVE FRANK KROSS

Private Detective Frank Kross has first been broadcast in 1972 in German television. The former employee of the Criminal Investigation Department became a detective after ending his career in the police force. Kross distinguishes himself through his criminalist skill, calmness and proper courage.

Only 13 episodes of the ARD afternoon-series Private Detective Frank Kross were filmed, each lasting only 25 minutes. Kross was portrayed by Siegfried Wischnewski. Episodes are still being broadcast on German television, in particular in the third programs of the ARD.

Kross collects evidence and is a strong supporter of the law. Frank Kross worked as a private detective in Wiesbaden and was thereby the predecesor of the subsequent TV detective Josef Matula from the neighbouring city of Frankfurt, aired on ZDF, noticeable especially through the collaboration between an attoney named Dr. Simmet (portrayed by Hellmut Lange) and a private detective, just like in Private Detective Frank Kross.

Private Detective Frank Kross was a crime series by Bruno Hampel, a successful screenwriter, among whose creations was also the TV series Inspector Freytag, produced between the years 1963 and 1965.

Erich Neureuther was the director of the series Private Detective Frank Kross and its episodes were created by Taunus Film GmbH.
