Checkmate

(USA, 1960 - 1962)

Checkmate was an American detective series written by Eric Ambler. It consisted of 70 one-hour episodes, which were broadcast for the first time between 1960 and 1962.

Don Corey, portrayed by Anthony George, and his younger partner Jed Sills, played by Doug McClure (later known in Germany as the dream couple of the Shiloh Ranch), ran a detective agency in San Francisco called Checkmate. Don Corey was the head of the detective agency.

The two were assisted by a British criminologist and former Oxford professor Dr. Carl Hyatt, played by Sebastian Cabot. The three had their office in Corey's Nobel apartment, where they had a wonderful view of the city of San Francisco.
