Charlie Wild, Private Detective was originally created as a radio show. Later, it even made it to television.

Since the show was sponsored by Wildroot Hair Oils, the private investigator was called"Charlie Wild". The series was filmed in New York. Kevin O'Morrison initially played the role of Charlie Wild and he was later on replaced by John McQuade.

The role of Effie was played by Claris Leachman. There were 60 thirty-minute episodes, written by Peter Barry and shot and directed by Richard Valenta.
