Flashgun Casey was produced as a media franchise. There were movies, novels, comics, radio, and, to top it all, the TV series.

Flashgun Casey was the photographer of the newspaper Morning Express and has investigated several many criminal cases. There were 40 thirty-minute episodes where Richard Carlyle (later Darren McGavin) played the role of Flash Casey.

The show was broadcast live from New York. Casey sits in the Blue Note Cafe and tells the bartender of his cases. By the way - the musicians of the Blue Note cafes were played by the Tony Mottola Trio.

It was directed by the famous Sidney Lumet.
