Kathy Reichs

 

American anthropologist and writer Joan Kathleen Reich was born in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. Both parents worked, his father was manager of a company and her mother of musician in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

 

Together with her 3 sisters, Kathleen grew up in Chicago and attended high school. Following high school, she attended Northwestern University, a prestigious private university, and graduated as a Ph.D. with distinction.

 

At the age of 19, Kathy Reichs married the coroner Paul Reich, with whom she has 3 children. She now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she is working for the Office of the Medical Examiner, and in Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec, where she works for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciares et de Medecine Legal and is certified there as one of only 50 forensic anthropologists in the US and Canada operates.

 

Furthermore, she teaches at the training academy of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in Quantico, Virginia, on the subject evidence detection and collection. Moreover, the author and coroner Reichs is also a Professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina

 

Kathy Reichs is a member of a state disaster response team and was in this context present at the attacks on the World Trade Center on 11.09.2001 as a forensic anthropologist involved in the identification of victims. As part of an order of the United Nations, she helped identify bodies exhumed from mass graves in Rwanda and Guatemala.

 

In 1997 she received the 1998 Arthur Ellis Award of the Crime Writers of Canada, the award for the best new release for her first novel Deja Dead. The book was a huge success and, when Death du Jour was released in 1999 and Deadly Decisions in 2001, she had established herself as a writer.

 

Since 2001, the author published a new book every year for her series heroine Temperance "Tempe" Brennan. Since 2005, Kathy Reichs writes the scripts of the American television series Bones.

 

Kathy Reichs' books are very successful and have been translated into 30 languages. In addition, they have also been released as very well made audiobooks. The author, who works for social services, keeps her private life hidden from the public, so little is known in this area
