James Garner as Detective Rockford

Storyline

Thomas Caine is an art collector who commissions private investigator Rockford to bid on a valuable sculpture at an auction. Thus, Rockford attends the auction and succeeds in purchasing the statue for his client. He is attacked, thereafter, however, and the procured art piece is destroyed during the resulting fight.

Immediately after Rockford returns to his client’s hotel. He realizes, however, that he is no longer there. Rockford still remains in his trailer waiting for his return.
