77 Sunset Strip

(USA, 1958 - 1964)

Author Roy Huggins’77 Sunset Strip is a classic series from the U.S. It's about the Los Angeles detective agency carrying the same name, located on Sunset Boulevard.

Detectives Stuart Bailey (Efrem Zimbalist) and Jeff Spencer (Roger Guenveur Smith) had previously worked as secret agents. Later, the former car park attendant Kookie (actually his name was Gerald Lloyd Kookson) joined the club. He is portrayed by Edward Byrnes.

Byrness also got his own office in the detective agency. The detectives were assisted by Rosoe, played by Louis Quinn, and secretary Suzanne Fabray, played by Jacqueline Beer. From the police, they received help from Lt. Gilmore, played by Byron Keith, from time to time, who shared valuable information with them.

The cool appearance of the detectives met the contemporary spirit of the young generation and Ed Byrnes became a teen idol. There are even songs written about him (Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb) by Connie Stevens in collaboration with Byrness itself. Kookie was distinguished by having constantly gelled hair and always and always having a joke on his lips.

205 episodes, divided in 6 seasons, were produced between 1958 and 1964, out of which 61 episodes were synchronized for German television. Byrness was thereby brought to life by the inimitable voice of Hans Clarin, which rose Byrness to cult status in Germany and even made him ??the front page of Bravo magazine.
