The Vise

(USA, 1955 - 1957)

The Vise is a British crime series about the one-armed detective Mark Sarber, broadcast every Friday night on ABC between December 1955 and June 1957.

In the 52 thirty-minute episodes the role of the detective was played by actor Donald Gray. He had lost his arm in World War II. However, his missing arm did not represent an impediment.

He was a very determined detective, who could always rely on the help of his partner, Barney O'Keefe, and that of his very affectionate, lively, blond secretary, Stephanie.

The series was produced in London by Edward and Harry Lee Danziger. Two seasons were broadcast in ABC before the series was cancelled in June 1957.
