The Mask was the first detective series, whose episodes were one hour. This series is about the brothers Walter and Peter Guilfoyle, lawyers by profession, who also conduct their own investigations.

The roles of the brothers were played by Gary Merrill and William Prince. There was a murder in each episode. After the series became well-known, the profession of the two brothers was simply forgotten and they were now just a team of private, based on the Larka Television series Private Eye.

Since the cost of production was too high and no sponsor could be found, the show was cancelled after only a few months. The episodes were produced by Robert Stevens and Halsted Welles.
