Dr. Raymond Langston

Dr. Raymond Langston (played by Laurence Fishburne) made his first appearance in episode 19 Down in 9th season of the TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

In this episode, he held a criminology seminar about a serial killer, transmitted by video conference. Fortunately, the students of the seminar see the serial killer on a video projection screen, and may only hear the imprisoned murderer participants but only ear.

This seminar was intended for the killer to answer questions the students’ questions, but that he may not identify the students visually. Required by his profession, Gil Grissom was also present at this seminar.

In the course of this and the next episode, One to Go, Dr. Langston recognizes that he is apparently not meant to teach. Teaching alone does not make up for his longing to perform an activity that promises a little more excitement and variety.

Grissom is determined to leave the CSI and follow Sara Sidle in South America. In brief, a place becomes free in the CSI team and Grissom offers his position to Dr. Langston.

Langston, who was actually a surgeon, until a serial killer began to murder people in his hospital, has, after the offender was arrested and sentenced, initially made ??retraining as a pathologist and then a further retraining for psychologists. After some hesitation, he accepts Grissom’s proposal and appears soon as a new team member.

Langston's knowledge in many areas is so comprehensive - the work related to clues and crime scene investigation, however, is quite foreign to him, so that he initially has greater difficulty. At the beginning, for example, he is seen in doubt about how to properly remove a fingerprint.

He kneels down into his new role and we see him sitting in the lab and after work experimenting with different print powders. He then learns how to secure fingerprints. He is also always willing to take the advice of his colleagues.

Likewise, he gets used to a different clothing style. Initially only wearing suits and ties, he first takes of the tie because it often fell on the face of a murdered man during the evidence, becoming a piece of evidence.

This gradually changes his clothing style, moving from suits to more labour-oriented clothing.

Over time, Raymond Langston succeeds to better to integrate in the team and he is accepted by his colleagues.
