Elle Greenaway

The fluent Spanish speaking Elle Greenaway is half Cuban and grew up in New York, where her father worked for the New York Police Department (NYPD). When she was eight years old, her beloved father was killed in an operation. After her education, she worked for the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), where she was, just as Aaron Hotchner, employed in the FBI field office in Seattle.

After supporting the profilers in Seattle in successfully solving a case, Agent Elle Greenaway (played by Lola Glaudini) came to work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). After reviewing her file and initial discussions, Jason Gideon was convinced that Agent Greenaway often reacts impulsively. In conversations with her, he told her that she needed to shed this impulsiveness in order to survive in this unit.

Elle Greenaway was the specialist in sexually motivated crimes in the BAU team. The topic of sexually motivated crimes requires very strong nerves and a high degree of mental strength, conditions which the half Cuban almost always satisfies.

Before she was shot at the end of the first season of the series Criminal Minds, she was very successful as a professional. In this very unnerving case, the team conducted investigations against serial killer Randall Garner, who had set up rules that the team violated. As punishment for this, he gained access to Agent Greenaway's apartment shortly before she returned home. Then he shot at her and wrote the word “Rules” on the wall in her blood.

Elle Greenaway survived the attack and was unable to work for months. The four months that she was leave were sufficient to heal her physical injuries, but not for her psychological injuries. Although Agent Greenaway was still suffering from psychological problems, she returned to the team.

When the team then investigated the case of a serial rapist, they could though identify the culprit, but the evidence was, however, insufficient to arrest him for his actions. One evening, Dr. Spencer Reid visits his colleague in her hotel room to talk to her. He notes, however, that she had no interest in the conversation and that she had also been drinking. The same night, Agent Greenaway leaves the hotel again.

She is talking the perpetrator on a side, leading to her shooting him. She initially didn’t want to make a statement but declared later that he had acted in self-defence. Subsequently, the investigation was set against Agent Greenaway. Dr. Reid made ??his allegations, of course, that he did not recognize Elle’s psychological state when he visited her the day before.

Agent Greenaway is instructed by her team leader, Aaron Hotchner, to seek an FBI psychologist. Elle, who believes that she has acted correctly does not show up for the appointment. When Hotchner finds out, he confronts his colleague, but she explains that she did not regret what she did. Then she places her badge and service weapon on the desk and resigns.
