Eric Delko

Eric's mother was pregnant with him when his parents and his three older sisters fled in 1976 from Cuba to the United States. The father turned his name of Delektorsky into Delko and the Cuban-Russian-born Eric Delko came to life in the same year in the United States.

Out of high school, student Delko attended the University of Miami, a private university in Coral Gables near Miami. After graduating in chemistry and graduating from the police academy, he began his police work rescuing divers before transferring to the Crime Scene Investigation of the Miami Dade Police Department. Eric's specialties include drugs and fingerprints. He is also part of the diving team of investigators due to his experience of the divers.

Eric Delko (played by Adam Rodriguez) and his colleague, Tim Speedle, are close friends, but it was never really known what built this friendship. When Speedle, as he was called by his friends, was shot dead, Eric world collapsed and he had to fight hard to deal with this situation. After a severe gunshot wound in a later episode his friend appears again in a dream.

In the course of the series CSI: Miami, Eric's sister, Marisol, also plays a role. Eric Delko is very fond of his sister and when it turns out that she has leukaemia, he becomes very worried about her. When a relationship between her and his friend and superior Lieutenant Horatio Caine is looming, Delko initially reacts negatively. Over time, however, he gets used to the idea that the two are a couple.

To combat the symptoms of their illness, Marisol occasionally smokes marijuana. Delko, who buys the drugs for his sister, is suspended on suspicion of drug use from the service and the competent prosecutor raises even charges against the investigator. As Marisol Delko says, however, her brother was only helping her, as she smoked the drug because of the pain associated with her disease. He had not smoked actively. Due to the lack of evidence, the case against Eric Delko was then dropped.

Shortly after the marriage between Marisol and Horatio, she is murdered at the end of the fourth season by drug dealer Antonio Riaz, Riaz whereupon fled to Rio de Janeiro. After completing the investigation, Eric and his brother Horatio make their way to take revenge.

When asking Riaz, he defends himself. He loses his life in the ensuing fight, where he is stabbed by Horatio Caine.

Towards women, Eric Delko takes mostly a protective role. In the case of an emergency, she protects them against these attacks or saves them from a dangerous situation, which for him has also already led to problems. He once lost his badge saving a young woman that his brother abused. Once when he was attacking a man who apparently abused his wife, he is later sued for damages for assault.

The investigator gets into big trouble when it turns out that his birth certificate is fake. The original was exhibited in Cuba, which is why Eric is not an American citizen and is now officially treated as an illegal immigrant. His birth certificate lists the former employer of his mother as his father.

Consequently, the investigator is detained and he only manages to clarify the situation when Horatio Caine finds his biological father, he. It turns out that the alleged original document is a forgery. Eric's father is Cuban, but an American CIA agent. After Eric is rehabilitated, he can resume his duties in CSI.

At the end of the seventh season Eric is shot and a seriously injured when he was trying to help his own father on the run from Russian gangsters. Yhe shootout occurred, because Eric did not have his teammates involved in the solution of the problem - he wanted to help his father alone. Nevertheless, his colleagues run to the spot and shoot the fleeing Russians. Here Eric Delko is hit by a shot of his colleague’s Calleigh Duquesne. Delko is injured and falls into a coma.

Eric Delko had a brief affair with his colleague, Natalia Boa Vista. This affair, however, is already finished when Natalia tells him that there is a risk that she might be pregnant. It turns out, however, that this is not true, which is why they are both relieved. Even after their affair, the two have maintained a friendly and collegial tone.

Though the encounters between Eric and his colleague, Calleigh Duquesne, have always been friendly and cooperative, they come closer after his gunshot wound. Sometime later, however, Eric leaves the team, which also ends the relationship between him and Calleigh.
